Let's get poppin' with...
Designed to get kids engaged in fun and interesting activities, our POPrograms also foster key productive skills, such as speaking confidently in front of a group and adapting quickly to solve problems.
In a world that’s always changing, educators and parents must constantly question what it takes to ensure that a child will flourish as they grow and begin to lead their own lives.
How do we nurture a well-rounded individual? What lessons must we teach to set every student on the path to discover, pursue, and eventually succeed with their goals in life?
Traditionally, education systems have centered themselves around assessment heavy instruction, especially in the ‘Three Rs’ of reading, writing and arithmetic. However, while mastery of these areas are undoubtedly important, ultimately it is qualities such as confidence and charisma that give individual students the edge in highly competitive fields. Promising candidates need to be bold, have flexible minds and take smart risks – yet these are the skills that are the most difficult to directly address in a school setting.
The journey is half the fun - and in this case, half the learning! Rather than strictly results-oriented curriculums, we design our classes to specifically cover all the soft skills and unspoken lessons that can be neglected by a purely academic approach.
While each unique program has its own set of learning objectives, it is important to us that students not only acquire the specific skillset associated with the subject (such as how to make a particular recipe or perform a certain dance), but that they take ownership of the process and act with intention when making creative decisions.
The self-directed style of learning also ensures that students have fun and actively participate in the class – which makes them more likely to absorb the lessons we are teaching, as well as apply them outside the classroom. Thus, whether they are learning to cook, draw, write or act (or more), it is always our aim to have every session filled with excited laughter, shared opinions and anecdotes from students, and eager anticipation for the next meeting!
